Homemade Green Plantain With Fish Stew: Mbalaga Za Samaki



Serves 2 – 3 people

Green bananas {use 2-3 plantain, Peel and cut them into 5 pieces each and then bisected in the middle}
2 whole red snapper fish or if u want you can use beef about 500g
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1 teaspoon garlic paste
1 fresh chill or to taste {Optional}
1 teaspoon chill or to taste {Optional}
1 – 2 small 0nions {finely chopped}
3 tomatoes {Washed and finely chopped}
1 tablespoon lemon juice or to taste {Washed, chopped and Squeezed}
Salt to taste
2 – 3 tablespoons Olive oil or to taste

A} Prepare the fish and set aside click the recipe here–> Shallow Fried fish
B} Put bananas in a sauce pan add water until level and add drops of oil, then bring to boil
C} Immediately add tomatoes, onions pepper, salt and oil into the bananas and place a lid and leave to cook for about 15 minutes;
D} While bananas are cooking prepare a fish stew by frying onions, tomatoes, salt tomatoes, ginger, garlic, fresh chilli, chilli powder, until tender and then add shallow fried fish and very tiny water
E} Leave to simmer for 2 minutes
F} After 15 to 20 minutes of boiling bananas or until tender, then add fish stew in the banana pot, but make sure there’s no much water before adding the stew {if so, remove some water from the banana and then add fish stew}
G} Leave to cook for another 2- 5 minutes
Serve hot.
