Ingredients:

500gm potatoes, peeled and sliced into cube shapes as seen in the picture
1 cup gram flour/chickpea flour/besan
1 teaspoon salt or to taste
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 teaspoons garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder {optional}
1/4 tsp of yellow food colour
1/4 Chilli powder to taste
A pinch of turmeric powder {optional}
Oil for frying
1 cup water

Method:
A} Wash / clean your potatoes
B} cut them into halves or if the potatoes are big into quarters.
C} Put some water in a pot, add salt and potatoes
D} Bring to boil until your potatoes are half way cooked or tender, but please make sure not to overcook them.
E} Now mix the gram flour with all spices and water to make a thick batter (not too thick and not too thin).
F}Add some salt in the batter {mixture} to taste. See the picture below.

G} Add some salt in the batter to taste.
H} On a medium heat stove, place your frying pan and add oil.
I} Once the oil is hot, place your potatoes in the batter. Pick up the potatoes from the batter and dip them into the hot oil, do this at a time and start frying them. Make sure not to over fill the fry pan

J} Turn them to cook the other side
K} When both sides are well cooked or until they are golden, then remove from heat and drain the oil
L} Serve with chutney or chilli sauce or sauce of your choice

TIPS:

• The oil should be hot but not too hot, you don’t want to burn the potatoes.
• The amount of ingredients is just a guidance, you can use less or more to suit your taste.
